NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball Lists Charlotte Condo for $2.6 Million

NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball, recently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, is strategically divesting his real estate holdings in Charlotte, North Carolina. The prominent basketball player has officially listed one of his two opulent condominiums in the city for a price of $2.6 million. This move comes as he adjusts his living arrangements following his professional relocation, retaining his other, larger penthouse property in the same exclusive building.

Ball's initial acquisition in The Trust, an elite Uptown Charlotte building, occurred in August 2023 when he purchased a third-floor unit, 3B, for $2.2 million. Demonstrating a rapid expansion of his Charlotte real estate portfolio, he further invested just nine months later, securing a fourth-floor unit, 4B, directly above his first property. This second acquisition was made off-market from former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for $2.47 million, after Ball had leased the unit for four years.

With his professional responsibilities now shifting to the Twin Cities, maintaining ownership of two consecutive luxury units in Charlotte has become an unnecessary extravagance. Consequently, Ball has chosen to sell the third-floor condominium, seeking $2.6 million. Despite this sale, property records indicate that he is currently holding onto the penthouse unit previously owned by Newton, signaling a more selective approach to his property portfolio. The listing for the third-floor residence is managed by Erika Mendoza of Coldwell Banker Realty.

The unit on offer spans approximately 3,500 square feet and is situated on a corner, providing impressive views of 4th Street. It features meticulously polished marble floors, adorned with striking gold and gray veining, which extend throughout the residence. The layout includes four spacious bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and an additional powder room. Enhancing its appeal, the condo boasts a private outdoor terrace equipped with a kitchen setup and a dedicated dining area, ideal for al fresco entertaining.

Upon entering, a grand gallery leads into a vast great room, distinguished by large bronze-cased windows that frame panoramic city skyline views. The open-plan design seamlessly integrates a contemporary kitchen, which is outfitted with rich espresso-colored cabinetry, pristine white quartz countertops, and a dedicated wine refrigerator. A prominent feature of the kitchen is a large island, which doubles as a four-seat breakfast bar, catering to both casual and formal dining needs. Additional luxury amenities within the building include a 1,162-bottle wine vault, a fully equipped gym, and a shared rooftop terrace. Residents also benefit from two secured garage parking spaces and convenient access to local attractions, such as the Bank of America Stadium and Truist Field, as well as the Chima Brazilian Steakhouse located on the ground floor.

This strategic real estate transaction reflects LaMelo Ball's adaptation to his new professional environment following his trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves. By divesting one of his Charlotte condominiums, he streamlines his property ownership while retaining a significant investment in the city. The sale underscores the dynamic nature of celebrity real estate, often influenced by career changes and evolving personal needs. The property itself, with its luxurious finishes and prime location, represents a high-value asset in the Charlotte market, appealing to discerning buyers seeking upscale urban living.
