A Fusion of Materiality and Geometric Simplicity

In the realm of contemporary illumination, a new collection emerges, challenging traditional perceptions of lighting fixtures. This innovative series, conceived by the distinguished designer Joan Gaspar in partnership with the acclaimed Spanish brand Marset, redefines the interaction between light, material, and environment.

Marset and Joan Gaspar Illuminate Spaces with "Ringo" Collection

In a compelling collaboration, the visionary designer Joan Gaspar and the pioneering Spanish lighting manufacturer, Marset, have unveiled their latest creation: the "Ringo" lighting series. This collection, characterized by its striking resemblance to ice blocks, ingeniously utilizes a unique material described by the company as nothing short of "astonishing."

The core of the "Ringo" light lies in its construction from transparent polycarbonate, meticulously crafted through a rotomoulding process. This advanced technique imbues the material with a distinctive dimpled texture, artfully mimicking the delicate, organic imperfections found in hand-blown glass. Available as both a sophisticated pendant and a versatile ceiling lamp, the "Ringo" series is a testament to Marset's commitment to emphasizing material integrity over mere geometric form. It breathes new vitality into simple shapes through its unexpectedly rich surface and thoughtful scale.

Primarily envisioned for expansive commercial interiors, such as the grand lobbies of upscale hotels, where a substantial yet elegant light source is paramount, the "Ringo" light excels in its ability to illuminate with both power and subtlety. Marset highlights its inherent transparency, which allows the fixture to seamlessly integrate and harmonize with its surroundings, enhancing the aesthetic without overpowering it. Furthermore, when unlit, the "Ringo" transforms into a captivating sculptural object, exuding a powerful, artistic presence.

The collection offers two distinct sizes, 90 or 70 centimeters in diameter, providing flexibility for various spatial requirements. Installation options are equally versatile, allowing for flush mounting, graceful suspension from a cable, or secure attachment to a rigid stem. For spaces demanding greater reach, the rigid stem can be extended with additional poles of 40 or 60 centimeters, ensuring optimal placement and illumination.

This innovative design, which combines polycarbonate with opal methacrylate, is available in an array of sophisticated colors and finishes, including Smoked, Dark Smoked, Rosé, and Green, measuring 900 x 250 millimeters. The "Ringo" series represents a bold step forward in lighting design, promising to transform environments with its understated elegance and remarkable material craftsmanship.

The introduction of the "Ringo" lighting series by Marset and Joan Gaspar prompts a reevaluation of how we perceive and interact with light fixtures. It underscores the potential for materials, even those seemingly common like polycarbonate, to transcend their utilitarian nature and become central elements of artistic expression. This collection serves as a powerful reminder that true innovation often lies in the thoughtful reinterpretation of existing forms and the creative application of advanced manufacturing techniques. It challenges designers and consumers alike to appreciate the subtle beauty of texture and the profound impact of light on our lived spaces, inspiring a dialogue between functionality and sculptural artistry.
