A Star's Sanctuary: Johnson's Pasadena Home Hits the Market

Jake Johnson's Thriving Career Beyond "New Girl"

Since the conclusion of 'New Girl' eight years ago, Jake Johnson has successfully diversified his career. He's lent his voice to Peter B. Parker in the 'Spider-Verse' films and cultivated a significant following with his 'We're Here to Help' podcast. His return to live-action is also highly anticipated, with roles in NBC's 'Sunset P.I.' and a Hulu dark comedy pilot, reuniting him with former 'New Girl' co-star Damon Wayans Jr.

A Glimpse into the Actor's Pasadena Residence

Shifting focus to his property portfolio, Johnson has decided to part with his West Pasadena residence. Situated in the desirable Lower Arroyo neighborhood, the midcentury home is now on the market for an asking price of nearly $3.3 million. He acquired the property through a trust in 2017 for approximately $2.2 million, sharing it with his wife, artist Erin Payne, and their twin daughters. The listing is managed by Thomas Atamian of Coldwell Banker Realty, La Canada Flintridge.

Architectural Heritage and Modern Renovations

Originally constructed in 1947, the house underwent extensive remodeling in 2004 by Santa Monica-based architect Aleks Istanbullu. This renovation infused the property with a blend of sleek modernism and unique DIY elements. Despite an aesthetic described as bordering on 'unconstrained chaos' by Bustle, it clearly functions as a beloved family dwelling.

Interior Design: A Blend of Comfort and Style

The roughly 3,200-square-foot single-level home features four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. The living area, anchored by a stepped ceiling with a floating wood canopy, boasts a fireplace adorned with custom artisan tiles and large glass doors opening to the backyard. Wide-plank hardwood floors extend into an adjacent dining space, while the galley kitchen is outfitted with vertical-grain wood cabinetry and a wrap-around corner bar, complete with a breakfast nook.

Private Quarters and Luxurious Amenities

A long, skylit hallway, lined with glass and bookshelves, leads to the spacious primary bedroom. This serene retreat features vibrant green accent walls, a fireplace, and a dedicated reading nook. The accompanying light-filled bathroom is enveloped in striking Italian blue glass tile, and an attached sunroom discreetly houses a built-in sauna. The three additional bedrooms offer custom cabinetry and ample floor-to-ceiling wardrobes.

Exquisite Outdoor Spaces and Certified Wildlife Habitat

The property's park-like grounds span almost a half-acre, securely nestled behind gates and hedge-lined walls. A raised lap pool, flanked by a covered terrace and a towering wall of Podocarpus hedging, forms a central feature. The landscape is dotted with various fruit trees, deer grass, and Matilija poppies, and includes a garden with a walking path, raised beds, and a tree-shaded patio at the rear. Furthermore, the grounds have been designated a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Two detached structures on the property serve as an office and a wellness space, adding to the home's comprehensive appea
